Brownian motion is used to describe the movement of the B-cells, which are the monads of the immune system. The signal measured by a specific B-cell is a stochastic quantity. It will be shown how the immune system can use the statistical properties of the signals carried by the B-cells, to acquire relevant information about the infected region: How large is this region? How high is the density of desease-causing agents in it? Where in the body is this region located?
