■授業概要
現代米国における政治問題についての、最近の新聞記事・論説・演説などの英文を読んだ上で、議論する。
■到達目標
学生は、現代米国における政治問題についての理解を深め、政治に関する英文を読解できるようになる。

■準備学習
教材を読み、次の3項目（後述する授業方法の3部構成に対応）を書いた事前メモをワードなどで作成し、A4の紙に2部印刷してくること（1部は提出用、もう1部は控え）。これをもとに授業で質問・発言することが求められる。
最初に、提出年月日、学生番号、氏名、一読するのにかかった時間、レポートを作成するのにかかった時間、を記すこと。
（１）英語の意味が分からなかったところはどこか（頁と行で指定）、何故分からないかを、全て書く。無論、辞書を引けば分かる程度の疑問は解消してくること。英文はウェブサイトからコピペしてもよい。
（２）教材全体の論旨を100〜200字程度で要約する。
（３）教材で扱われている政治問題に対する意見を200〜800字程度で述べる。
■授業方法
授業時間を3部に分割する。事前メモ1部を授業開始時に教員へ提出すること。
（１）最初は、英文読解それ自体に集中する。単語レヴェルに始まって、文、段落単位で、ゼミ生の質問を受ける形で、講読を進める。
（２）次に、教材全体の論旨を的確に理解することを目指す。
（３）最後に、教材を踏まえて、ゼミ生が当該政治問題について自分の意見を述べ、議論する。
ゼミ生は事前メモに基づいて発言することが求められる。いずれの部も、1時間経ったら、もしくは発言が出なくなったら、次の部に移行する。
■成績評価の方法・基準
単位取得要件は、欠席4日以下であることである。出席は事前メモの提出および授業中の発言の有無によって確認する。成績は、出席回数（5割、1日欠席で5点引く）及び授業中の発言の内容（5割）によって評価する。試験は実施しない。

・オフィス・アワー
質問など面談を希望する学生は、毎週月曜日の16:20〜16:50であれば、予約なしで東２号館913号室にある研究室へ直接来て良い。それ以外の時間帯を希望する場合は、電子メールをKentaro.Fukumotoあっとまあくgakushuinどっとえーしーどっとじぇーぴー宛に送って予約をとること。
・授業は12月21日に終了する。
