　　―現代世界のessenceを把握する―

現今のCurrent topicsとして取捨選択された記事を通して世界の人々の様々な生き様を認識する事を基本方針として編集された本書の生きた現代英語に触れながら、読解力を養うと共に現代世界のessenceを把握していく事を目標とする。20課で構成され、各課が１本の記事と詳しい注釈及び内容理解度をチェックする為の練習問題が備わっている本書を読む事によって、時事英語力と総合的英語運用能力を高める事をも目指す。
又毎週授業時間の一部を割いてTOEIC受験に備える為のテストを行う。

各々のUnitで扱われている諸問題に対する読解力と内容把握を目指すと共に英文構造にも傾注しながら精読を目標とする。毎週約１課を読む進度で、学生の予習発表を中心に授業を進める為、予習準備が必須となる。
