授業の目的・内容

The main objectives for this course will focus on developing speaking/listening and reading/writingskills in English. You will "know how to" use English in all kinds of situations.
This will include building vocabulary, applying grammar structures and listening activities requiring student responses. There will be reading activities for comprehension and activities to communicate ideas in writing. You will be encouraged to express opinions and to function in discussions on relevant topics.

The prescribed textbook sequence will be the primary framework for topics and grammatical sequence; however, this is flexible depending on the extent of explanation or coverage necessary in each unit.
Individual WORKBOOK exercises will be required for each unit.

授業方法

Background explanation and cultural information will be introduced in each unit. Students will have practice in using grammatical structures and expressing ideas. Listening activities will be part of each lesson. You will be monitored each class on your comments and input about the topic. Follow-up review outside of class is necessary.

Consistent "quality" attendance/class participation-40%
Workbook exercises-25%
Unit exams and first term exam/second term exam-35%
First term examination will be July 12, 2005
Second term examination will be January 24, 2006
The examination will be a "test" of your ability to APPLY what you have learned to communicate your ideas and to properly use grammatical structures.
