In this course students will watch and listen to news stories from the BBC. The news reports will cover a wide range of topics and feature exercises to help improve students' understanding of English.

The class will be taught in English. Students will watch and listen to actual news reports and do exercises based on these reports. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in group discussions of the issues raised in the reports.

Grades will be based on students' preparation for class and their completion of worksheets. Attendance and participation in classroom work will be taken into account; regular attendance is important.

本授業では、英米文学科生に必要なSpeaking力とListening力を本格的に養成する。英米の音声による表現を基礎から学び、聞き取りの技術を身につけることで、口語による伝達能力を大いに高める。

第２学期Listeningに関しては、100時間を目標に、最低でも50時間、本学でのLL使用を義務づける。規定の時間数を満たした学生のみ、年３回の判定試験が許される。

評価は、第１学期、第２学期の成績を総合して決める。
