● 英語Ｃ（中級）法IＨ

The aim of this course is to improve the communicative competence of the students. First the students will study an English Conversation Text,“New Gold Edition English First Hand - Level two.”In this text the students will practice simple conversations, take part in structured and unstructured pair work and group work. This course text has quite a challenging listening component, which will challenge and improve the students listening ability. Second, the students will be encouraged to take part in discussions (that they will select themselves). These discussions will start as pair discussions, then group and finally class discussions with the teacher. Third in the second semester the students will be required to produce a video commercial of approximately three minutes. The students will write, act and film it themselves. It is hoped that through this activity students will visualize themselves speaking English and motivate them to be independent learners. Finally it is hoped the students will enjoy the class!

Start Chapter One -“Have you two met？” Week Three and Four Chapter Two -“You must be excited！”　 Week Five and Six Chapter Three -“Going Places” Discussion topic - students’choice Week Seven and Eight Chapter Four -“I love that” Discussion topic - students’choice Week Nine and Ten Chapter Five -“Why” Chapter Six -“What's it like there？” Week Eleven and Twelve Discussion topic - students’choice Revision and first semester discussion test Semester Two Week One and Two Discussion of the holidays Chapter Seven - “Do you remember when？” Chapter Eight -“Making Plans” Week Three and Four Chapter Nine -“What should I do？” Discussion topic - students’choice Week Five and Six Chapter Ten -“Tell me a Story” Video projects: Selection of groups and topics Week Seven and Eight Video Project, writing filming and viewing Week Nine and Ten Chapter Eleven -“In my opinion.” Chapter Twelve -“Looking Ahead” Week Eleven and Twelve Final revision and conversation discussion test Final Week Talking about the future and how students can improve their English as independent learners.

A communicative approach will be adopted and the language of instruction will be English.
Points to remember:
1. Students will be encouraged to speak in English at all times.
2. The classes start on time and so the students will be expected to come to class and on time!
3. The students are encouraged to motivate themselves and become self-motivated learners.
4. When you come to class you are required to have a textbook, notebook, file, dictionary and a pen or pencil.

There will be a discussion test at the end of each semester and quizzes during each semester on vocabulary.
The student's attendance and participation will be graded (just coming to class is not enough!). 30%

The students will be required to have an A4 File for any prints and a small notebook for any new expressions and words that they learn.
An English/Japanese and Japanese/ English Dictionary (An electronic dictionary is fine)
