授業の目的・内容

This course is for students who would like to increase their knowledge and understanding of traditional basic American values, where they came from, and how these values influence American culture, institutions, lifestyle and society. Students will learn language learning strategies that will help them to develop, compare, and express their own points of view on a wide range of themes, including diversity, the family, education, government and politics, religion, business, and recreation.
The following schedule is tentative and may change, depending on the amount of material covered in the first term:

授業方法

Students will be expected to actively participate in a variety of reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities including pair work, group work, and short oral presentations. Students will learn basic academic research skills, and how to write a short research report.

成績評価の方法

Each of the following will count for part of your final course grade: taking an astive part in discussion and class activities, regular weekly attendance, and completion of weekly class assignments. A short, end of term research report is required.
