The aim of this class is to develop English speaking skills through discussion. Students will learn the skills and strategies for effective discussion including asking follow-up questions to get more information, answering in detail, expressing their opinions, agreeing and disagreeing and leading a discussion. In the first semester, students will discuss topics from the textbook. In the second semester students will research their own discussion topics.
A provisional schedule will be provided in the first class but the schedule may change slightly depending on students' needs or interests.
This is a student-centered class where students will be required to participate actively in classroom activities, working in pairs and small groups in order to maximize their opportunities to speak in English.
第2学期 (学年末試験) :試験を実施する
Examinations in this class will be speaking tests rather than written examinations although written homework assignments will be part of the overall grade. Active class participation, preparation and attendance will also contribute to the final grade.
