授業の目的・内容

This course will offer First Year students an introduction to studying English at University level. In order to help students adjust to the demands of their new environment, the first part of the course will examine the habits students have developed in their study of English at High School. The second part of the course will introduce students to contemporary English through the use of film, music, and TV news. In the concluding part of the course, students will look at the importance of context both for understanding, and as determinant of, the language of a given situation.

授業方法

The class will be taught in English. The goal of the course is to help students bocome more pro-active in their study and in their use of English, so students are expected to play an active role in the collaborative tasks which will be assigned in class and to participate in class discussions.

成績評価の方法

The course is shared between two teachers. Students must pass both classes to receive an overall grade.
Grades will be based on students' preparation for class and their completion of homework assignments, worksheets and classroom tasks. Attendance and participation in classroom work will be taken into account; regular attendance is important.

英語の音の変化について基本的な仕組みを理解し、その変化した音を聞き取れるようになることを目標とします。

授業内容

４ 語末の破裂音について
５ Tの音変化について
６ 聞こえなくなる音
７ VとFの関係
８ 消えるHの音とその影響
９ 前の音の影響を受けるYOU

11 音の特徴をつかまえる
12 文法と意味と発音の関係
13 まとめ、理解度確認

授業方法

音変化を理解するために、発音記号を用いて解説を行います。聞き取れるようになるためには、ある程度発音できる必要がありますので、発音の練習も併せて行います。

成績評価の方法・基準

毎授業時の小テスト(30%)、課題学習(20%)、定期試験(50%)で、合計50%以上を合格とします。
