Each class will focus on a particular sound change that occurs in natural, everyday speech. Students are first given a systematic explanation of these sounds, followed by listening practices which provide an opportunity to hear the sound as it appears in normal conversation and in rock and pop songs. Although this is mainly a listening/speaking course, students will also practice reading and writing skills. Students will be expected to actively participate in a variety of listening and speaking activities. A cooperative learning approach will be used which will include both individual and group practice. |
