The aim of this class is to develop English speaking skills and build student confidence through a variety of interactive activities including pair interviews, group discussions, role-plays and class surveys. The focus will be on using language to communicate in practical, real-life situations. The textbook provides students with practical skills and strategies to improve their spoken English abilities such as beginning and ending conversations, developing conversations, summarizing information. The textbook will be supplemented by audio visual materials to improve students` listening skills and provide interesting topics for discussion.
A provisional schedule will be provided in the first class but the schedule may change slightly depending on students` needs or interests.
This is a student-centered class where students will be required to participate actively in classroom activities, working in pairs and small groups in order to maximize their opportunities to speak in English.
