The focus of this course is the academic esssay: its various types. Attention will be given to the writing process, a review of the paragraph, MLA formatting of essays, as well as troubleshooting common grammar, spelling, and punctuation problems. Fluency will be developed by journal writing which will include reader-responses to independent reading.

Exam 1= 30％; journal writing= 30％; participation = 10％; assignments (30% 3 x 10%)
Attendance is critical for progress in this course. 1% will be subtracted for each unexcused absence from the final term grade. Participation is defined as being present in class and being prepared with assignments and having textbooks.

「アカデミック・ライティング演習（中級）Ⅰ」は、英語英米文化学科によってクラス指定が行われる。２年生ガイダンスに必ず出席し、指示に従うこと。また、３年生以上の再履修者、及び他教科免許取得のために履修を希望する者は英語英米文化学科事務室に相談すること。
