ユーモアのセンスに富んだイギリス文化論をメイン・テキストとして用い、文脈の中で単語の意味をとらえ、速読と精読の２つの読み方によって、本文の内容を正確に理解するリーディング・スキル、および本文中の表現を応用して英語で発信するライティング・スキルを養いながら、適宜視職覚教材を導入して、イギリスに関する知識を深めることを主な目的とします。

Introduction to the UK　①～⑤の週は教科書以外の教材を用いた授業を行います。事前にプリントを配布しますので、指示に従って予習をしてきてください。

毎回、授業の開始時に前のレッスンに関する小テスト（ボキャブラリー、ディクテーション等）があります。授業ではリスニングと音読も重視しますから、教科書付属のCDをよく聞いて読む練習をして下さい。教科書の練習問題にすべて答えが用意してあることを前提に授業を行います。

第1学期 （学期末試験） ：試験を実施する

第2学期 （学年末試験） ：試験を実施する

出席10％、小テスト20％、授業参加態度20％、定期試験50％による総合評価。
