授業の目的・内容

The aim of this course is for students to practice and improve their English skills and develop strategies to help them communicate better. The main focus is on listening and speaking, while related reading and writing work will be assigned as homework. Students can expect to make progress in their overall understanding of the language, learn vocabulary and gain fluency and confidence in using English in situations relevant to their daily lives.

Unit 2. Remembering important events. Listening and conversation practice.
Unit 2. The five senses. Describe experiences.
Unit 2. Video: listen for main idea and details.
Unit 3. Nature: cause and effect.
Unit 3. Solving the problem. Listening for vocabulary about climate change.
10 Unit 3. Watch and discuss the problem in the Netherlands.
11 Reading and writing about the future.
12 Short presentations in class.

16 Unit 4. Money.
17 Unit 4 Comparing values around the world.
18 Unit 4. Wealth. Bargaining.
19 Unit 5. Listen to conversation about a natural disaster. Use the conditional tense.
20 Unit 5. Discuss survival in an emergency.
21 Unit 5. Video listening to an example of human survival in Peru.
22 Unit 6. Listen to native people talk about traditonal kinds of art they produce.
23 Unit 6. Describe a painting to a partner.
24 Unit 6. Describe in writing.
25 Presentations in writing due. Video listening about rock art in Australia.
26 Rehearsal of presentations.
27 Students present a talk in class.

The above may be adjusted according to the level and ability of the class.

授業方法

Material will be presented in the form of reading, listening or video. Students will study and practice the language and vocabulary and use it to carry out various tasks. Many opportunities will be given for students to speak and relate the topics to their own lives through pair and group work, as well as individual activities. Students are expected to take an active part in the class and contribute to making it a positive and lively experience for all.

成績評価の方法

Evaluation will be based on attendance, participation in class, presentations and homework as well as tests.
