授業の目的・内容

This course looks at international relations from the perspective of the policy-makers directly involved. It looks at a broad range of what are called "diplomatic conclusions".
It does so to show not only the diverse and varied nature of the issues that foreign policy-makers now face but also how complex and analytically contested these issues can be.

What role does Britain play in the world today? [GB]
What role does Russia play in the world today? [Russia]
Why is the European Union in crisis (1)? [Germany]
Why is the European Union in crisis (2)? [France]
Why is ASEAN (unlike the EU) not in crisis? [Indonesia]
Why is Iran making nuclear material? [Iran]
10 Will the "Arab Spring" ever turn to summer? [Egypt]
11 Will the "Arab Spring" ever turn to summer? [Israel]
12 Does Brazil get the global recognition that it deserves? [Brazil]
13 So: what diplomatic conclusions can we come to about international relations?

授業方法

Lectures in plain English - wherever possible provided by the relevant diplomats.
