授業の目的・内容

The aim of this class is to get students to communicate in English at an intermediate level. In order to do this, the teacher will teach speaking, listening, writing and reading in a communicative way. In addition to the four skills, the teacher will teach grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, so that the student will feel confident and competent when using English at an intermediate level.

授業計画

1 Orientation, introductions and word order in questions.
2 Present simple. Family and personality adjectives.
3 Present continuous. Prepositions of place. Vowel sounds.
4 Defining relative clauses. Expressions for paraphrasing.
5 Practical English: at the airport. Revise and check.
6 Past simple regular and irregular verbs. Holidays. Listening for gist.
7 Past continuous. Prepositions of time and place.
8 Questions with and without auxiliaries. Listening for detail: pop music.
9 Verb phrases. Narrative structure.
10 Practical English: at a hotel. Revise and check.
11 The future: going to and will. Contractions.
12 Promises, offers and decisions. Word stress.
13 Present, past and future tenses. Sentence stress.
14 Review.
15 Supplementary study.
16 Present perfect. Present perfect or past simple? Clothes.
17 Present perfect simple. Verb phrases. Family conflicts.
18 Comparatives and superlatives. Time expressions. Cities and countries.
19 Use of the infinitive. Verbs plus infinitive. Social English.
20 Practical English: sightseeing and eating. Revise and check.
21 Have to, don't have to, must, mustn't. Modifiers. Sentence and word stress.
22 Expressing movement. Prepositions. Focus on sport.
23 Practical English: shopping. Writing an email.
24 First conditional. Confusing verbs. Long and short vowels.
25 Second conditional. Animals. Stress and rhythm.
26 Possibility. Should and shouldn't. The verb get. Practical English: travel. Revise and check.
27 Word order of phrasal verbs. The passive. Biographies. School subjects.
28 Past perfect. Reported speech. Adverbs: suddenly, immediately, etc.
29 Review.
30 Supplementary study.

授業方法

The teacher will follow a communicative approach to language teaching.

成績評価の方法

中間テスト:20%
レポート:10%(And or homework)
小テスト:10%
平常点(出席、クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):60%
There will be a few small review tests during each term to assist the teacher's evaluation of each student. Assignments must always be completed.
