―ポスト9/11の英語文学――

9/11テロ事件のような圧倒的な暴力を、文学はいかに表現するのか？　そもそも、こうしたテロ行為を目の当たりにして、文学に何ができるのか？　この授業では、9/11テロ事件と関連した文学作品を取り上げ、こうした問題を考えていきたい。授業ではおもに短編を取り上げるが、最終的には自分で作品を選び、論文を執筆することを目標とする。

9/11テロ事件と関連した英語の文学作品を精読していく。毎回、各自がかなり調べてくること。範囲のすべてを翻訳できるくらいに準備し、授業に参加することが求められる。また、ときどき関連する映画も見て、理解を深めたい。第2学期はそれと同時に、各自がテーマや作品を決め、リサーチして論文を書くことを目標とする。
