授業の目的・内容

In this class we will focus on paragraph writing, following on from the work in Academic Writing EI . Students will learn how to write coherent paragraphs using topic sentences, support sentences, appropriate conclusions, signal words, simple list order, time order, rank order and space order. We will also look at persuasion, cause and effect, and compare and contrast. You will need a notebook to use as a journal.

授業方法

The class will be run on a workshop basis, with students writing in class and conducting peer feedback sessions. We will occasionally use the CALL lab to access online resources.

成績評価の方法

中間テスト:15%(This is a timed essay to be completed in class.)
レポート:40%(This is a final report to be submitted at the end of term.)
小テスト:45%(This is three paragraphs, one each to be submitted at the end of chapters 4 to 6.)
Your grade will be based on five pieces of written work; a timed essay, one paragraph each at the end of chapters 4 to 6 in the textbook, and a final report on an academic topic of your choosing. Attendance and participation will also affect your grade.

「アカデミック・ライティング演習(初級)Ⅱ」は英語英米文化学科によってクラス指定が行われる。新入生ガイダンスに必ず出席し、指示に従うこと。また、2年生以上の再履修者は英語英米文化学科事務室に相談すること。
