授業概要

The primary focus of this class is to allow the students to exchange ideas, formulate opinions, and to respond to each other in a natural flow of conversation. A variety of themes will allow an atmosphere for discussion.

到達目標

The main goal for students majoring in English is to be able to verbally communicate. This involves an attitude for interaction with others. Students will learn to react and respond to each other's comments, to show interest and expression and to link their own ideas to open communication.

The pace of each class will depend on student involvement and the expansion of each theme.

授業方法

An overview of each unit's theme will be explained. Students are to contribute knowledge, experiences and comments related to that theme. Up to date material will be presented provided by the National Geographic Magazine. Listening activities will coordinate with each theme.
There will be pair work, group discussion, interviews, surveys, class presentations, and projects.

準備学習

Students will be asked to preview each unit and to gather information to add to the discussion. This can involve thinking preparation, observations, experiences and background knowledge.

成績評価の方法

第1学期(学期末試験):20%
第2学期(学年末試験):20%
中間テスト:15%(on-going vocabulary in use)
レポート:15%(Contributing related information.)
平常点(出席、クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):30%(class interaction and involvement.)
