授業概要

The aim of this class is to improve the English-speaking ability of students, so that they will become more capable of expressing their own opinions and feelings in both academic and non-academic contexts. Students will prepare and perform mock interviews and other simulations in order to practice their English, and will also be instructed in how to improve their pronunciation and sound more natural. In addition, many opportunities will be provided for students to participate actively in pair-work exercises and group discussions, in order to improve their ability to both conduct and comprehend English-language exchanges.

At the end of this course students should be able to: speak English more confidently, listen and read with better comprehension, write more expressively and efficiently, research topics more appropriately, use vocabulary more correctly, and understand and use grammatical structures more correctly.

授業方法

Students will engage the four skills materials individually, in pairs and groups, doing role-play, vocabulary building and other interactive exercises. The emphasis will be on genuine interaction and communication based on the real-life situations of the students and online research they have done. Self-expression and interaction with both classmates and the instructor will be a common characteristic of the class.

準備学習

Students will be required to do weekly homework and occasional writing assignments (30 min. - 1 hour). In addition, students should do self-study from the CD-ROM provided with the textbook on a weekly basis (20 mins. approx.)

This will be a very interactive, stimulating class. Students who are motivated to attend class regularly and participate actively can expect to do well, learn a lot, and enjoy themselves.
