To develop academic and social skills. Students will work through successive cycles of preparation and practice on a given topic, culminating in either a discussion, an essay, poster or power point presentation.

The students will learn presentation skills and the students will learn discussion skills.

1	Introduction - In this class we will go through the grading policies. Goals of the CourseSpeaking of Speech

3	Taboo conversation topics Questions you can't ask. For example: How much do you weigh/earn?
4	lt should be banned. Bullfighting, hunan cloning, boxing, the Ku Klux Klan - ban them all!
5	Designer babies Blonde hair, blue eyes - would you like to design your children?
6	Gays and jobs Does it matter that a doctor teacher, or the Prime Minister is gay?
7	Gay families - two dads and no mother. What is a normal family these days?
8	Marriage - for better or for worse What's the point of marriage these days? What's wrong with divorce?
9	ESL Breaking news - In the next four weeks we will be using Internet lessons. The students will discuss current topics.

19	Anxiety and depression Do you get depressed? What can you do about it?
20	immigration and racism How do you feel about people from other countries coming to live it yours?
21	The death penalty Are you in favor of it?
22	Animal rights We do experiments on them? We eat them We keep them as pets? Do you object?
