授業概要

This course will provide students with the central techniques necessary for a successful academic presentation in English. There will be a comprehensive examination of the various elements that contribute to presenting a talk in public: background research, concise detailed writing, paragraphing and data inclusion, strength and tone of voice, how to ask and respond to questions skilfully, how to use appropriate body language throughout a presentation, and poster, PowerPoint, and handout creating techniques. All students will be expected to make shorter and longer presentations of around 5 and 10 minutes respectively.
Students are also required to read around and research their presentation materials in order to help them gain a wider understanding of their field.

Research, writing, and the creation of visual materials will all be discussed in detail with students given individual assistance by the instructor.
All students are expected to participate actively in the weekly question and answer interactions with the instructor, which are aimed at helping to clarify the overall purposes of academic presentations.
