―English for Beginners―

This course is for students who did not study English as a first foreign language at high school. In this class students study basic English grammar and vocabulary, and develop their English ability with a variety of speaking, listening and writing activities.

Students who complete this course will be able to ask and answer questions in English about themselves, their studies, and their surroundings. They will be able to give directions, explain simple processes (such as recipes), make plans and express basic opinions. They will develop an understanding of fundamental English grammar, and build an essential English vocabulary. They will also develop listening and pronunciation skills.

In the classroom, students will work together in pairs and small groups to do listening and speaking tasks. The teacher will introduce new grammar and vocabulary, check progress, and help with difficulties. Students will be expected to do homework every week, and will take a short progress test every few weeks to check comprehension and practice key structures.

Complete grammar, vocabulary and reading exercises from the textbook for review/preview (about 30 mins).
Listen to set exercises on the class audio CD to improve listening skills (about 15 mins).
