授業概要

In this class, different types of materials in English are looked at from the structural points of view and by doing this, students will learn how to organize their pieces of writing in English in the most effective way along with their purposes.

到達目標

In this class, students will learn first
1) what a paragraph, a topic sentence and cohesion mean in a piece of writing
2) the basic structure of an English passage
and eventually should be able to write English paragraphs to match the purposes of their writing.

Upon the consultation with students on the first day, it is possible to change the orders of lessons. However, the above-mentioned order is meant for the convenience of the learners'.

授業方法

Individual QAs, possible pair/group work and in-class writing.

準備学習

You need to spend at least 30 minutes every day before you come to the classroom.
The followup / review is also important especially between (1) and (2) of each unit.

成績評価の方法

レポート:60%(Whether each student's writing at every unit meets the purpose of the writing)
平常点(クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):20%(Classroom activities)
attendance:20%
Active participation in the classroom and good preparation and elaborate choice of the topic for each writing at home are especially considered as of importance.

履修者数制限あり。
第1回目の授業に必ず出席のこと。

You need to be punctual when you come to the classroom.
If you are absent from the class more than 4 times, you lose the chance to obtain credits. If you are late for the class three times, that is counted as 'one absence.'
