本授業は多種多様な人々の生き様について書かれた英文を読むことにより、学生諸君の英語力の向上を図るとともに、視野を広げることを目指す。

学生はこの授業を履修することにより、洗練された英文を自分の力で読むことができ、なおかつそのテーマに関して自分の考えをもち、表現することができる能力を身につけることができる。

授業は学生を指名して演習方式で進めていく。

授業前にあらかじめ教科書の該当箇所を読んでおくこと。（1時間～２時間）

第１学期（学期末試験）：35％（一学期の授業の理解度をみる）

第２学期（学年末試験）：35％（二学期の授業の理解度をみる）

小テスト：10％

平常点（クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等）：20％

試験と小テスト、レポート、授業での取り組みなどの平常を重視しながら総合的に評価する。

履修者数制限あり。
