―Building fluency―

This is an intermediate course in communication. Students will get a chance to improve their fluency through many speaking exercises. Much of the material is based on previously learned concepts to help improve individual aspects of fluency. The main goal of the course is for students to participate in a free-flowing conversation of approximately 10 minutes without using any Japanese. In addition, students will be able to build their vocabulary, work on pronunciation, and review grammatical concepts.

Students will practice all language skills in each class, but the focus will be on speaking and listening.
Students will increase their fluency and speaking confidence.
Students will increase their vocabulary.
Students will practice speaking in various dynamics such as one-to-one conversations or presentations.
Students will identify individual strengths and weaknesses.

In most classes I will present a grammatical theme to review. Thereafter students will have an opportunity to speak using the grammatical theme. In other classes, students will get a chance to present their ideas on specific topics.

Depending on the class, preparation will differ. For example, presentations need out of class research and presentation practice prior to class presentation.
　
Most in-class tasks are brief so that the different needs of the students can be met.

平常点（クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等）：40％

Presentations：30％

No textbooks are required. Teaching materials will be provided by the teacher.

第1回目の授業に必ず出席のこと｡
