This course will cover the key skills needed for active communication and learning. In the Spring Term we shall focus mainly on speaking and listening skills for everyday conversation. You will use these skills in the Autumn Term for discussion of topics which will also involve reading and writing activities.

1. This is a communication class and involves active-learning methods so students are expected to participate in pair- and group-work activities
　
2. Use of graded readers for extensive reading and listening of content which introduces topics to write about as preparation for discussion-based activities

Homework will involve readings and exercises for class review or preparation (approx. 15 - 30 mins)

レポート：25％（Two written assignments (one per term) - not optional）

小テスト：25％（Based on homework (see Class Preparation above)）

平常点（クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等）：50％（Positive attitude and active participation required in class）
