授業概要

This course aims to help students improve their communication skills in English. Students will engage in group discussions and will give short speeches, presentations and performances to the class. The emphasis of the course is to provide the students with as many opportunities as possible to actively use English in order to develop skill and confidence in expressing their own opinions, ideas and feelings.

到達目標

The objective of this course is for students to acquire expressive and effective use of the English language in conveying their ideas and thoughts, both orally and on paper. In addition, students will be able to build their vocabulary, learn conversational grammar patterns, and read with better comprehension.

The above schedule may be modified depending on the interests of the class members. Additional materials will also be included in the class activities.

授業方法

In this course students will engage in discussions, speeches and presentaions every week. These activities will give students opportunities to 'get used to' sharing their opinions with their classmates, and to gain confidence in expressing their ideas more freely, with emotions. Students are expected to participate actively and positively to make the course an enjoyable, creative experience for all.

準備学習

Where appropriate students will be given homework (approx. 30 to 60 mins.) including reading assignments, writing assignments, some (Internet) research, and rehearsal for in-class speeches, presentations and performances.

成績評価の方法

第1学期(学期末試験):10%(The exam will be in the form of reciting your-own-lyrics)
第2学期(学年末試験):10%(The exam will be in the form of presenting an in-class survey)
Participation, Speeches, Presentations, Regular Attendance:80%
Evaluation will be based on classroom participation, speeches, presentations, other weekly assignments, and overall progress.
