授業概要

In this course, students are 1) to read 'expository writing' with a variety of topics in natural science, 2) to be given some opportunity to express their own thoughts in English and 3) to do listening exercises once in a while.

到達目標

Students will be able to 1) feel comfortable in reading relatively easy English, 2)express one's own thoughts in writing and 3) hopefully listen to some Enligh passage more easily than before.

授業方法

Lectures plus such activities as question and response, occasional in-class writing and listening exercises may be given.

準備学習

Prepare a notebook or looseleaf file only for this class.
Study outside the classroom for at least 30 minutes everyday to 1)go through the main text and find your unfamiliar words, 2)consult your dictionary and make a list of new words of your own and 3)do the exercises along with the main text.
 
Extensive reading outside the classroom is also highly recommended. A room with full of graded books and DVDs is ready for you on the 6th floor of the Central Building on campus. Please feel free to go and browse through the DVDs, books or magazines there.

第1学期(学期末試験):40%
第2学期(学年末試験):40%
小テスト:10%
平常点(クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):10%
Make sure to be in the classroom on time. Coming late for the class 'three times' will be counted as 'one absence'. You need to attend at least 2/3 lessons all through the academic year. That is, if you are absent more than 4 times in one session, then you can not write the final exam of each session. No tardy slip given by railway companies are accepted.
