授業概要

This course aims at giving students the tools with which to engage in university-level discussion in English. Students will improve their ability to explain issues and to express and elicit opinions. Students will choose topics for discussion. A short report will be provided to the teacher and will be the basis of discussion in a small group. Short presentations will also be an aspect of the course and there will be a group presentation at the end of the second term as the culmination of a project to be chosen by the each group (possibilities include a mock magazine, an NGO project, and a junior version of an international organisation). Vocabulary development will also be a feature of the course, with the focus on reading at the university level and the selection of words to add to a class vocabulary list that will be the basis of exercises and quizzes.

到達目標

Students will have a chance to build up their vocabulary and to express their ideas and opinions on various social issues and other topics they have chosen. Writing will be an aspect of the course, with short reports on discussions to be given to the teacher. Presentations will also be a feature of the course and students will develop their presentation skills by speaking before small groups and in a group presentation delivered to the class.
