授業概要

The purpose of this course is to further improve students' confidence and fluency in oral communication. Students will begin the course talking about themselves and then will move on to discussing life topics of the advanced level. The first semester will cover the first half (units 1 to 10) of the textbook; and the second semester will cover the second half (units 11 to 21). However, some textbook units may be omitted and some other materials added depending on the level and interests of the students.

To be able to read, listen to and understand personal and social issues of the advanced level.
To be able to think, do research and write about the above issues.
To be able to summarize, discuss, debate and give presentations on these issues.

授業方法

Classroom activities will include listening, note-taking, role plays, discussions and presentations. Students will be required to do about one hour of preparation per week.

準備学習

Read beforehand the main passage of the textbook unit to be covered each time and take notes of the key points (about 30 to 60 minutes).

成績評価の方法

第1学期(学期末試験):15%(Review in writing)
第2学期(学年末試験):15%(Review in writing)
Grades will be determined based on speeches, presentations, classroom participation, homework, attendance, and overall progress.:70%
