This is a course in general oral communication and aims to consolidate and extend the listening and speaking skills developed in the first year. The materials we will use will be mainstream EFL activities in listening and speaking offering a variety of topics for language development and discussion.
There will be a listening homework. Details will be given in class.

We will concentrate on listening and speaking activities. Students will have a chance to listen to a range of interesting topics, giving them a chance to practise notetaking. We will then be able to discuss these topics giving a chance to develop discussion skills.
Students who complete this course should be able to develop a depth of expression and more confidence in expressing themselves in English.

The topics above may be varied according to the response of the students.

Students will work together in pairs during the speaking activities and it is important that you make every effort to speak in English and maintain English throughout the lesson. This effort will be reflected in the grading.

Class preparation activities will vary week by week. Sometimes it will be to review the previous week's work, sometimes a short reading or vocabulary preparation. (about 30 minutes)

This is a class in communication and students will be expected to have a positive attitude and to participate actively. This will be reflected in the grading.

There will be no textbook. I will distribute handouts as necessary.
