This course aims to develop important academic speaking and listening skills. Focussing on pair and small-group work, the course will give students many opportunities to discuss a variety of interesting topics, and will be particularly useful for students hoping to study overseas. Students will practice a variety of speaking skills, such as making decisions in groups and interrupting politely. Listening exercises will centre on college lectures, student discussions, and skills such as note-taking. The course also hopes to give students opportunities to think about themselves and their own futures.

The class will be conducted entirely in English and will focus on lots of pair work and small-group activities.

Students will be asked to keep a vocabulary notebook (approx 20 mins per week)
