授業概要

In this class, students will learn about various aspects of American history, society, and culture by reading articles, listening to lectures, engaging in discussions, and giving presentations. While most of the learning material will come from the textbook, other materials such as newspaper articles or TV news reports about current events will also be used as time permits. Students taking this class should already have taken a number of Advanced (上級), Special-Advanced (上級特), and/or Intensive Course classes, and will be expected to participate actively in class.

到達目標

The main objective of the course is to improve students' overall English language skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students will develop skills and strategies to improve their ability to read academically-oriented articles and listen to lectures. They will also improve their skills at summarizing (both orally and in writing) information they read or listen to, and will do their own reading and/or research on various topics and present their findings to their classmates. A secondary aim of the course is to develop students' knowledge of American history, society, and culture.
