授業概要

Through completion of the tasks in this course, students will master the fundamentals of paragraph
writing such as writing clear introduction, and conclusion sentences, as well as giving detailed support
for these. Learning the basic grammatical rules required in clear and effective writing will also be
taught, including how to use signal words, how not begin sentences with prepositions, as well as
instruction on proper punctuation and capitalization usage. After writing a paragraph, there will be
peer review, student revisions, and teacher corrections done to each composition before the final draft
will be handed into the teacher for a grade

This second semester of a year-long course will continue in paragraph writing, introduce basic forms of MLA research writing, and transition into writing two essays.

授業方法

The course will combine textbook instructional activities on grammar and sentence structure, in
addition to writing practice within and outside the classroom. There will be homework each week
which will be reviewed at the start of the following week. Keeping up with assignments will be a must
for a passing grade. Each piece of work has a chance to develop and improve through our writing
workshop practice.

Students will have approximately 1 hour of homework each week.

成績評価の方法

レポート:100%(Writing Journals (20%), Pre-writing and first draft grades (20%), Second draft grades (20%), Final draft grades (20%), Homework/grammar activities in the text (20%))
