2 Controversial topics (brainstorming)
3 Information management and evaluating sources, fact vs. opinion
4 Making assumptions
5 Vocabulary, language and body language
6 Peer feedback
7 First presentation: News Story (poster)
8 Acknowledging sources (paraphrasing, plagiarism, citation)
9 Identifying an argument and assessing the reasoning, and the key elements of persuasion
10 Writing an abstract
11 Giving great power point presentations, using charts and graphics
12 Second presentation: Students’ own academic research

授業方法

Instruction method will be a cooperative learning approach with some lectures from the teacher. Students will also have listening and pronunciation practice.

準備学習

Students should study assigned weekly vocabulary lists (approx. 30mins.), prepare and practice presentations, (approx. 30 mins./week), follow the news for class discussions (approx. 30 mins.), and review (10-15 mins.)

成績評価の方法

小テスト:10%
平常点(クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):40%
Presentations:50%

No textbook will be used in this class. Students are required to take notes and review what was learned in class. Students need to bring a notebook (or loose-leaf paper) and pencil for taking notes. Students must also purchase and bring vocabulary cards (単語帳 – approximately 2cm x 3 cm) to class.

「アカデミック・プレゼンテーション演習(初級)Ⅰ・Ⅱ」は、英語英米文化学科によってクラス指定が行われる。また、3年生以上の再履修者は4月5日から4月11日までに、他教科免許取得のために履修を希望する者は3月24日から4月4日までに英語英米文化学科事務室に相談すること。
