授業概要

The primary aim of the course is to improve your skills in academic writing. The course will focus on three main areas: proper sentence construction, the structure of various types of academic paragraphs (e.g., narrative, definition, process, logical division of ideas, etc.), and the organization and writing of paragraphs. Important secondary objectives will include using word processing software, writing meaningfully and creatively, and correctly.

We will engage in a series of writing exercises each of which will focus on an area where students need to improve.Afterwards, the essays will be corrected both by students and the teacher.The aim is not just to improve students` abilities to write well but also to develop the ability to spot and correct mistakes.

授業方法

Students will work individually and in pairs and groups doing writing, revising, and assessment activities. Afterward, student compositions will be used as a catalyst for sharing thoughts and feelings in English. Use of word processing software and the Internet for research purposes will be encouraged.

準備学習

Do exercises from the textbook before coming to class (approx.30 mins.).Complete writing assignments before coming to class (approx.30 mins.).

成績評価の方法

第1学期(学期末試験):20%(This will be in the form of a final paper)
レポート:20%
平常点(クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等):60%(Attendance & Punctuality = 20%, Homework Assignments = 20%, Participation in English & Completion of in-class assignments = 20% )
