This course will further develop the academic writing skills learned in the elementary course. Students will focus on different kinds of paragraphs and will work on improving their fluency and accuracy.

The aim of this course is to build on the academic writing skills acquired in the elementary course with an introduction to the essay at the end of the semester. Students will become more confident in using transitions and different types of sentence structure in their writing and will be able to write both faster and more accurately. Students will be encouraged to proofread not only their own work, but that of their classmates, too.

The schedule may vary slightly according to students' needs.

The classes will be conducted in English. Although this is primarily a writing class, students will be expected to discuss the various topics and to work on textbook exercises together.The teacher will give as much individual attention to each student as possible, but students will need to actively help and support each other in the learning process.

Students will be required to write journals on a regular basis during the semester. They will also be expected to review the relevant chapter in the textbook before every chapter quiz or writing assignment.

第１学期（学期末試験）：30％（Students will be tested on their ability to write well organised paragraphs.）

レポート：15％（Students will write journals on a regular basis during the semester.）

小テスト：45％（Students will do three writing assignments (worth 15% each)in class time.）

平常点（クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等）：10％（Students' attendance and overall participation will be evaluated.）

Excellent attendance and a positive attitude are necessary for success in this course.

「アカデミック・ライティング演習（中級）Ⅰ・Ⅱ」は、英語英米文化学科によってクラス指定が行われる。また、3年生以上の再履修者は4月5日から4月11日までに、他教科免許取得のために履修を希望する者は3月24日から4月4日までに英語英米文化学科事務室に相談すること。
