The aim of this class is to enable students to improve their reading and understanding abilities with regard to science-related articles using the Internet. The class includes short writing and speaking assignments, with feedback provided to ensure continuous progress.

Students will improve their skills in the following areas:
1. reading of scientific articles
2. listening and speaking abilities through participation in class
3. basic writing skills related to science

The class will be conducted in English. Interaction between students and instructor will be encouraged, using exercises from the text book and short presentations.

Read the set unit from the textbook and review the relevant exercises from the textbook before class (approx. 20 mins.)

レポート：60％（written report and short presentation）

平常点（クラス参加、グループ作業の成果等）：40％

The overall evaluation will be based on a report and short presentation. Class participation is important.
