授業概要

Beginning with an overview of international development and cooperation, the course will progress to the basic language and concepts necessary to understand the discourse on global development. Students will learn about, and speak and write about various issues associated with development of countries by looking at specific examples. Students will continue to develop the communication and academic skills they acquired during their first year.

授業方法

Flipped learning (reading and note-taking in advance), pair work, group work

準備学習

Approximately one hour of research and note-taking in preparation for each class.
More time may be required towards the end of each research cycle.

In this class, you will learn about global issues by conducting your own research on two topics of your choice, developing your ability to read and make notes in English, and explaining and discussing your research in pairs.
 
You must attend the first class. You will need to buy an A4-sized notebook and an A4 clear file with many pockets for handouts and loose paper. Bring these to every class, along with your digital device.
 
To get a good grade in this class, it is essential that you come to class on time, complete homework in a timely fashion, and participate actively in English.
 
Regular attendance, active participation in class activities, and working on assignments in a timely fashion are essential to the successful completion of this course.
 
The schedule may change according to the needs of the class.
Please bring your laptop to the class every week.
For practice, you are required to use a device with a video-recording function (e.g. smartphone, tables/laptop with a camera).
